  3. Ugh! Lost my entire post by not signing into Google first. Well..so excited for you..wish I could have been your guide through parts of Germany..my expertise being the Palatine region (near the French border), and Franken (upper Bavaria). Places to see Frankfurt Zoo, Heidelburg castle and University, Wurzburg, very pretty Main river town, University town, and great Castle and Residence Palace..also part of the Romantische Strasse which stretches to lower Bavaria and the famous fairy tale castles and palaces of King Ludwig (Neuschwanstein, etc.). And don't forget the ancient walled city (still completely walled) of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. A famous center of witchcraft in the dark ages, and a pretty tourist town. The night watchman tour is GREAT! Have fun!

  6. Neuschwanstein is a must since Karl Heselschwerdt was the messenger of King Ludwig and lived in Neuschwanstein. Rothenburg is great also, used to go there on the weekend with my friends and sight-see and bar hop.

  7. Hey, Jay! Where were you stationed when you went to Rothenburg? We were stationed in Wurzburg. I lived in Rothenburg while attending the Goethe Institute..a quick train ride from and back to Wurzburg. I wandered those alleys and streets and the trails on top of the walls..eating Schneeballen from the bakeries..fabulous hand carved, wooden, 3 story alters in the cathedral by Tillman Riemenschneider, from Wurzburg..
